Cacao with Pataxte 1LB

US$65.00

One pound of equally potent and powerful medicine from Nana Marina and the Cruz family in Guatemala.

Pataxte (pa-tash-teh) is a rare cousin of cacao, known as the jaguar tree or cacao blanco. It’s named for the markings on its pod, which resemble a jaguar’s pelt. Both trees appear in the Popol Vuh, the sacred book of the Maya, and foamy drinks made from their beans were traditionally reserved for ceremony. It’s softer and more delicate than cacao, has a higher fat content and a subtle nutty flavour. It is traditionally associated with masculine energy. It’s a beautiful way to bring something ancestral to the cup.
